It’s become unbearably clear that climate change is here and it’s happening right now. Just a quick scroll through the news feed and we’ll likely see reports of extreme weather events happening all around the world—from drought in the Horn of Africa, to wildfires in Chile, to heatwaves across Asia, to flooding in eastern Africa. And that’s just from the first few months of this year. According to a study from the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, there is a 52 percent increase in the number of cyclones in the Arabian Sea and a 150 percent increase in very severe cyclones. This increase has been linked to rising ocean temperatures and increased availability of moisture under global warming.
