ADA & Members Activities
TOR for Asia Civil Society Partnership for Sustainable Development(APSD) was circluated to ADA members on 30 September. APSD has emerged trough a series of consultations beginning with the APSD consultation on August 14 in Bangkok and the TOR was prepared by facilitation group as the basis of the functioning of APSD. This partnership will be convened by GCAP Asia, ADA, ADN and World Vision-Asia for better aligned actions in Asia. Newly created Google group of APSD(asia-sdgs-platform@googlegroups.com) is open for larger members!
 International Conference on the 25th Anniversary of the 1991 Paris Peace Accords on Cambodia was held on 19 October 2016. The meeting was held by various organizations including Asia Democracy Network(ADN), FORUM-ASIA, ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights(APHR), Asian Network for Free Elections(ANFREL) to raise awareness on Cambodia and seek collaboration and synergy among civil society organizations. You can see the result of the conference in its statement here. The meeting will be followed by national and regional campaigns to urge decision-makers to cease harassment of opposition politicians, human rights defenders, and civil society actors and amend restrictive legislation.
 Caucus of Development NGO Networks (CODE-NGO, Philippines)issued a statement "Stop Extra Judicial Killings! Uphold Human Rights!" on 20 October against extra-judicial killings caused by the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
 Taiwan Alliance in International Development(Taiwan AID) played a central role for 2016 CPDE Northeast Asia Meeting that was held October 20-21, 2016, in Taipei. As a result of the meeting, Consensus Statementwas published on the principles on development effectiveness.
Several members of ADA are invited to Expert Group Meeting on “Developing Partnerships for the Sustainable Development Goals in support of the reviews of the High-level Political Forum - Asia and Pacific” on 28 November, 2016 held by UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs(UN-DESA) in Bangkok. The Meeting aims to contribute to the HLPF National Voluntary Reviews by articulating the linkages of partnerships and implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, both at the regional and national level. Several members of ADA will also attend other meetings organized on the margins of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific(UNESCAP) SDG Week, which runs from 28 November–2 December. Updates on SDGs
From Asia, Japan, Maldives, Malaysia, Thailand will conduct National Voluntary Review at High-level Political Forum(HLPF), 2017. ADA is planning to work with national platforms in those 4 countries, namely with 3 members in Japan(JACO, JANIC, JAPOC) and the Malaysian CSO SDGs Network and other potential members in Thailand and Maldives. There was a follow-up meeting on the open letter to the President of ECOSOC with the new President of ECOSOC initiated by Amnesty International and Together2030 in October. You can see the summary of dialogue here.
Webinar Briefing by UN Statistics Division on IAEG-SDGs was held on 28 October by TAP Network. Through the webinar, updated information on Inter-Agency Expert Group(IAEG)-SDGs and World Data Forum with a focus on Tier classification, refinement of certain indicators and rooms for civil society participation was shared. Notes are available here. * The fourth meeting of IAEG-SDGs was postponed to be held on 15-18 November, 2016 in Geneva.
Amnesty International has published the Practical Guide for National Action and Accountability on the implementation of SDGs. You will be able to see how to make the targets nationally relevant with a focus on Gender Equality(SDG5), Reduced Inequalities(SDG10) and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions(SDG16) as well as learn about human rights monitoring mechanisms for accountability.

The International Civil Society Center has published the Civic Charter - The Global Framework for People's Participation and released a call for endorsement. The Charter is a global framework for people’s participation in shaping their societies. You can use this charter as a basis for your action and reference to civil and political rights.  The Leave No One Behind Partnership, established in July 2016, seeks to drive global momentum to ensure that Leave No One Behind turns from words to reality. You can get involved with this initiative by using the tools, taking actions and taking part in a national dialogue. Details can be found on http://action4sd.org/leavenoonebehind/.
 Action4SD is conducting a national-level stakeholder mapping exercise to identify civil society actions that are already making a meaningful difference on the SDGs and Paris climate commitments. To undertake this activity, download the template and contact info@action4sd.org.
 CIVICUS Monitor(Beta ver.) became available on monitor.civicus.org. It aims to map, track and analyse civic space trends.using multiple information streams related to civic space in each country around the world. The Monitor will be a source for fact-based advocacy on civic space at the national, regional and global levels in line with SDGs Goal16.
