High Level Political Forum Update

Call for expression of interest: NGO MG interventions from the floor in 2021 HLPF official sessions

UN DESA has cordially invited the Coordination Mechanism of the Major Groups and other Stakeholders (MGoS) to put forward MGoS candidates for interventions from the floor in 2021 HLPF official sessions.

Please read carefully the following information:

1. There are 14 official thematic sessions considered between Tuesday, 6 July and Wednesday, 14 July (see below).

2. There are 2 additional sessions in which you may be interested in intervening. However, these interventions must come from Organizations accredited with ECOSOC status due to the fact that these sessions form part of the High-Level Segment:

       - "Strengthening ECOSOC at its 75th anniversary for sustainable and resilient recovery from the COVID-19 and advancing the 2030 Agenda" on Friday, 16 July, 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

       - "Scenarios and possible medium and long-term trends related to the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and the achievement of SDGs" on Friday, 16 July, 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

3. Despite the sessions being different in length, 3 speakers from the floor will be selected for each session. Priority will be given to MGoS that were not listed as Lead Discussants in the official thematic sessions.

4. Interventions will be normally 2-minutes that would equate to a written statement of approximately 300 words. Occasionally, when time is short, moderators will ask all parties to cut their interventions to 1-minute.

5. In order to ensure that information of selected representatives is communicated to UN DESA ahead of deadline, expressions of interest in intervening from the floor will only be accepted until 6:00 pm EDT (NY time) two days before the session is due to take place. This will also allow UN DGACM enough time to share the log-in details and test any video/ microphone issues prior to the session beginning.

6. If selected as a representative from the NGO MG, you are expected to collaborate with the NGO MG  in preparing your intervention from the floor.

Should you be interested in intervening from the floor on behalf of the NGO MG please fill out this form.
