South Asia People’s Forum on Sustainable Development, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Dec 7, 2019
The South Asia People’s forum was organized by the civil society of South Asia, Dhaka, Bangladesh on December 7, 2019, ahead of the South Asia Sub-regional forum on Sustainable Development. The one-day event deliberated the challenges and issues of the civil society in the region and the opportunities to engage with various stakeholders towards implementation, monitoring and review mechanism. Main agendas of the forum were Poverty, Inequality, Exclusion and Leaving No One Behind; Peace, Human Rights, Justice and Governance; Natural Resources, Climate Change and Disaster Risk; VNR 2020, Regional Forum/APFSD 2020, and HLPF; and establishing peoples power for SDGs.
The civil society also came up with the statement of the CSOs on people’s action and voice.
3rd South Asia Forum on Sustainable Development, Dhaka, Bangladesh, 8-9 December, 2019
Third South Asia Forum on the Sustainable Development Goals” was jointly organized by The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Government of Bangladesh. The Forum took place on 8-9 December 2019 in Dhaka.
The South Asia Forums on SDGs has evolved into a vibrant multi-stakeholder platform in the region, providing a subregional forum to the Governments, think-tanks, civil society, among other stakeholders, to share challenges, opportunities and good practices for achieving SDGs in South Asia and identify areas of regional cooperation for promoting the SDGs. The Forum also serves as the preparatory for the Asia and Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) for South Asian countries and the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) of the United Nations.
The Forum was a unique opportunity to bring together the stakeholders from governments, academia, the international community, civil society and the private sector to share knowledge and discuss key challenges and opportunities implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Forum also provided opportunities for complementing the subregional agenda on Regional road map for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific.

APFSD 7
The Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) is an annual and inclusive intergovernmental forum and a regional platform for supporting countries, in particular those with special needs, in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Forum provides a regional perspective on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda by identifying regional trends and consolidating and sharing best practices and lessons learned. The Forum takes into consideration the contributions of United Nations system bodies (at the regional level), other regional and sub regional organizations, and relevant stakeholders. The APFSD also supports follow-up and review of progress on the 2030 Agenda at the regional level.
The theme of the 7th APFSD is “Accelerating action and delivery of the 2030 Agenda in Asia and the Pacific”. It will be organized from March 25-27, 2020 at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand.
People's Forum will be organised between 22-24 March, 2020, at Bangkok.

53rd ADB Annual Meeting: Invitation to submit a civil society session proposal
Dear CSO representatives,
We are pleased to invite you to submit a session proposal as part of the Civil Society Program of the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Civil Society Program is a venue for dialogue and knowledge sharing among civil society organizations (CSOs), including NGOs all over Asia and the Pacific. The 53rd ADB Annual Meeting will be held at the Songdo Convensia in Incheon Metropolitan City, Republic of Korea, on 2-5 May 2020. Click this link for more information.
This call for proposals focuses on topics related to ADB’s seven operational priorities under Strategy 2030. The submission form, selection criteria, and other information are posted on this link. Submit your session proposal, using the form provided, to civilsociety@adb.org on or before 17 January 2020. When submitting by email, use the subject title, “53rd ADB Annual Meeting Session Proposal”.

Background: This massive open online course (MOOC) is designed in the context of the preparation to the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) as part of an effort to strengthen the capacities of Governments to engage in an effective and meaningful way with MGoS (Major Groups and other stakeholders) as they implement and review progress towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Event Objectives: This event complements a range of other capacity development activities being rolled out, among other, by UN Secretariat to meet the needs of both governments and other stakeholders with regards to the 2030 Agenda and HLPF process.

Pre-registration of Non-governmental organization, civil society organizations, academic institutions, the scientific community, the private sector and philanthropic organizations
The General Assembly in its resolution 73/292 decided to convene the 2020 United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. The overarching theme of the Conference is "Scaling up ocean action based on science and innovation for the implementation of Goal 14: stocktaking, partnerships and solutions".
The Governments of Kenya and Portugal will co-host and assume all costs of the United Nations Conference to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 2 – 6 June 2020.
A preparatory meeting is scheduled to be held on 4-5 February 2020 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Relevant stakeholders, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, the scientific community, the private sector and philanthropic organizations, whose work is relevant to the 2020 UN Ocean Conference, accredited in accordance with the provisions set forth in Annex II of A/RES/73/292 can request registration to participate as observers in the Conference and its preparatory meeting.
