I hope you are well and that you may have enjoyed a short seasonal break wherever you are in the world!
I wanted to update you all on the progress of our joint campaigning for September. As you know from previous emails, we have been planning for a whole year to prepare for the SDG Summit as a point when we must demand more ambition from Heads of State and Government. Over the past year, we have organised a questionnaire and a series of workshops in Johannesburg, Bangkok, Marrakech, Santiago and Belgrade, we have listened to hundreds of you and also to our friends in wider civil society, including those working on human rights, development, gender equality, youth, nature, climate and many more.
These dialogues led to our strong joint statement at the HLPF to call for a moment of solidarity- to Stand Together Now for a Just, Peaceful and Sustainable World, #StandTogetherNow.
This movement has continued to grow in strength and we are working in solidarity with many other partners for a Global Week of Action. We are planning ahead for our joint mobilisation in over 30 countries to demonstrate the strength of our voices alongside the broader movement, including the Fridays for Future school strike on Friday 20 and Global Climate Strike on 27 September, as well as the actions of the Act4SDGs community. This is going to be a huge week!
Here are the mobilisations that some of our partners have started to list:
