Dear ADA members and friends, 

It is a great pleasure to introduce the first issue of  ADA Information Digest which provide a summary of information circulated among ADA members and friends on ADA activities and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)-related activities. 

Through this initiative, ADA Secretariat wishes to facilitate efficient information flow among ADA members for better communication. You can find the information soon at the new ADA website (work in progress). This Digest is to be issued on a monthly basis.

Feel free to send the Secretariat any information useful that you want to share among ADA members. 

Any feedback and comments on this initiative is more than welcome !

The 4th Glocal Advocacy Leadership in Asia Academy (GALAA) will be held on 10-17 August in Bangkok. This training program has been jointly organized by Forum Asia, ADA and ADN since 2013 to strengthen the international advocacy capacity of mid- and high-level staff in CSOs and thereby facilitate second-tier leadership for strategic “glocal (global and local)” actions on key human rights, development and democracy issues as well as related regional and international processes. 78dfe849-3923-4377-a339-d0568696a516.jpgADA organized the  Workshop on National Action Plans on SDGs – indicators and Voluntary National Review  on 30 March, in Bangkok. This meeting was held back-to-back with the Asia Pacific CSO Forum for Sustainable Development. In this workshop, the state of national implementation of SDGs and CSOs engagement in Nepal, India, Cambodia, Philippines, Mongolia, South Korea was shared. Details will be updated on the ADA website.

 

 


Several ADA members attended the Asia Pacific CSO Forum for Sustainable Development organized by Asia Pacific Regional CSOs Engagement Mechanism(AP-RCEM) in Bangkok from 31 March - 2 April, 2016 under the theme "Asserting People’s Priorities to Achieve Development Justice". This was a back-to-back meeting with UNESCAP's Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development(APFSD) aiming to inform and build capacity of civil society organisations on sustainable development at the global and regional levels, modalities for engaging in these processes and provide a space for dialogue on the content and substance of the APFSD. All the relevant documents will be uploaded here including the outcome document for CSO Forum and here for UNESCAP Forum.

 

 



f2627533-708a-43ef-a1a1-72473cb475db.jpgMr. Anselmo Lee, ADA Co-convener, gave a presentation at thef Asia Pacific CSO Forum for Sustainable Development on 31 March with the subject "Setting the Tone : Reality Check- Victories gained and Challenges faced by AP CSOs". His presentation contains CSO engagement in SDGs process in terms of achievement, challenges and lessons learnt.  He also spoke at the Panel Discussion on the Multi-stake holder Engagement on 5 April during the APFSD.  Download the presentation here.

 


45bfc302-5dc7-4ca4-b981-e22bd4e8ba7f.jpgThe Civil G7 Dialogue was held by Japan Civil Society Platform on 2016 G7 Ise-Shima Summit during 22-23 March, in Kyoto. This dialogue was to organize and prioritize advocacy points before the dialogue with G7 Sherpas and influence and change the G7 countries pledges and policies into what actually and effectively solve the global issues. 11 members of ADA participated in the dialogue. [STI] Call for Innovations for the SDGs
The first annual Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum) will be held at the United Nations in New York, on June 6 and 7, 2016.
