Dear ADA members,

TAP Network and Indicators Task Force will hold a webinar on SDGs Indicators.
The webinar will take place on Wednesday, 28, September at 8 pm Bangkok Time. It is expected that we will be able to hear briefing directly from UN Statistics Division during the webinar.

Online Consultation on some of the indicators has also started from 19 September to be finished on 28 September. Please check the email from the Inter-Agency Expert Group (IAEG) for SDGs Indicators below for the details.

To briefly remind you of the current process for developing global indicators for SDGs, total 230 indicators were agreed as "practical starting point" at the 47th UN Statistical Commission held in March 2016. You can see the official list of global indicatorson http://unstats.un.org/sdgs/indicators/indicators-list/.

There are indicators classified as Tier 2 for the need to secure sufficient data and Tier 3 for lacking agreed methodologies. Refinement of current indicators and developing methodologies will be further discussed during the 4th Inter-Agency Expert Group (IAEG) Meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in October 2016. Some of current indicators are already being used to track progress of the implementation of the SDGs. The first SDGs Progress report in which those indicators are assessed is available on http://unstats.un.org/sdgs/report/2016/goal-01/ both in the form of PDF file and web-based publication.

Please refer to the article below to see more detailed update on SDGs global indicators.

Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the Inter-agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators (IAEG-SDGs), we would like to invite you to participate in an open consultation on possible refinements to the global indicator framework for the Sustainable Development Goals. In follow-up to the 47th Statistical Commission decision 47/101 (e), which “Requested the Inter?Agency and Expert Group to take into account the specific proposals for refinements of the indicators made by Member States during the discussion”, the Inter-agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goal Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) is conducting an open consultation on possible refinements for a limited set of indicators in the global indicator framework for the Sustainable Development Goals.

This consultation is open to all countries, regional and international agencies, civil society, academia and the private sector. The IAEG-SDGs is seeking inputs from all interested organizations and stakeholders on the possible proposed refinements through this consultation. Please note that the inclusion of a specific indicator or proposal in this consultation does not indicate that a proposal for a refinement of this indicator will eventually be submitted to the Statistical Commission. The IAEG-SDGs will review the inputs received and decide on the merit of each individual refinement to be proposed to the Statistical Commission.

The consultation will take place from 19 to 28 September 2016. The inputs received will inform the discussion at the fourth meeting of the IAEG-SDGs, to be held from 20-21 October in Addis Ababa (http://unstats.un.org/sdgs/meetings/iaeg-sdgs-meeting-04).

Please use the link below to access the online consultation form:

If you have any questions regarding the open consultation or encounter any problems accessing the online form, please contact Mr. Benjamin Rae (raeb@un.org).

Thank you for your continued collaboration throughout this process.

Best regards,

UN Statistics Division
